Insert a flathead screwdriver into the side slat of the slider that aligns with the zipper stop. Use a screwdriver to open the slider so it fits over the teeth of the zipper. Push the open slider into the middle of the zipper with the zipper stop.
If there are tears in the zipper fabric, repair them. Squeeze the opening on the slider to reduce its size. Squeeze the slider up and down with your fingers or a pair of tweezers. This will once again give the opening inside the slider the correct size.
Can the zip pull be replaced?
When the zipper pull breaks, or the slider simply wears off, you don’t need to replace the entire zipper. Simply replace the zipper slider and stop that prevents it from sliding. It’s a quick repair that can make the difference between a zipper that doesn’t work at all and one that works like it’s brand new.
How do you open a new zip pull?
Place your alternate pull tab on top of the zip slider. Make sure one of the stubs is inside the loop at the top of the zipper pull tab. If you have a hook-type loop, slide the replacement pull tab under the slit. If the slit is too small, open it slightly with a flathead screwdriver.
